Rihanna voices Smurfette and teases new music in the trailer for the upcoming Smurfs adventure.
The trailer for the upcoming new Smurfs adventure just dropped today and Rihanna fans are extremely excited.
The 36-year-old is not only voicing one of the most endearing Smurfs in the village, Smurfette, she is also providing new music for the upcoming film.
Back in April of 2023, the Fenty Beauty founder spoke about working on the film.
“I get to show up in my PJs in my third trimester,” Rihanna said per the Hollywood Reporter at CinemaCon. “I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day.”
The upcoming Paramount Pictures film is directed by Chris Miller and co-director Matt Landon. In addition to voicing one of the main characters of the movie and providing original music, Rihanna will also serve as a producer on the project in addition with Ryan Harris, Laurence “Jay” Brown and Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith.
The trailer, which is introduced by Rihanna, features Smurfette talking about her idyllic life in Smurf village before they all get magically transported to Paris.
So, just what can fans of both Rihanna and the Smurf franchise expect from the film. Well, check out a brief synopsis: When Papa Smurf is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.”
In addition to Rihanna, the Smurfs cast also includes: Nick Offerman, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd and Xolo Maridueña, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
This upcoming movie will return to the big screen after over a 10-year hiatus. The franchise is based on the comic book series, which was created by Belgian comic-book artist Peyo.
