Jamie Foxx, 57, was joined by his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise Bishop, at the premiere of his new movie “Back In Action” at Zoo Palast on January 15, 2025 in Berlin, Germany.
The father-daughter duo stole the spotlight, posing for photos and sharing a warm embrace on the red carpet. Anelise, whom Foxx shares with his ex-girlfriend Kristin Grannis, turned heads in a chic gray plaid suit that showcased her unique style.
The premiere was particularly meaningful for Foxx, who has been open about his life-changing health scare. In April 2023, he suffered a stroke caused by a brain bleed, leaving him in a coma for 20 days. In his Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Happened Was…, released last December, the actor shared how Anelise played a crucial role in his recovery.
Foxx credited his daughter as his “spiritual defibrillator,” revealing how she snuck into his hospital room with her guitar during a critical period.

“They said at one point, the first 15 days, they thought they were going to lose me because my vitals were out of control,” Foxx recounted. “There was a 13 or 14 day period where they said, we’ve gotta keep him calm and we’ve given him every medication that they could. It’s not working, we gotta keep him calm because his vitals are so high we’re going to lose him.”
Foxx detailed how Anelise, then 14, defied expectations. “That’s when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter. She’s 14. I didn’t want her to see me like that but she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and she said, ‘I know what my daddy needs … that’s my daddy.’ ”
He added, “They said when she was playing, my vitals went down. The nurses at the nurses station were baffled. Like, ‘Wow what did they give him?’ They rushed into the room and she said, ‘Ssh. I got him.’ … Do you know what I found out? That God was in that guitar. That’s my spiritual defibrillator.”
Back In Action, also starring Cameron Diaz, is set to premiere on Netflix on January 17, 2025.
