Allison Holker’s daughter, Weslie Fowler, is speaking out against online criticism targeting her mom in the wake of Holker’s recent revelations about her late husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss.
Weslie, 16, took to Instagram on Friday, January 10, to address the negativity and set the record straight about her stepfather, who tragically passed away in 2022.
“My stepdad’s been gone for two years and I’m still getting hate comments,” Weslie, said. It’s just complicated and for no reason. It’s not just a social media gig; this is literally my life.”
Though Weslie clarified that Boss never legally adopted her, she emphasized he raised her since she was one year old.
“I get that my relationship with Stephen seems complicated, but this man raised me my entire life — since I was 1,” Weslie explained. “I have a biological dad [and] I have a relationship with him, but Stephen was the person that raised me. He literally raised me and it’s hurtful to see… so many new stories. It’s so much more complicated and I don’t know how to explain it well.”
Weslie’s comments come in response to backlash surrounding Holker’s People interview promoting her new memoir, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light.
In the interview, Holker opened up about discovering hidden drugs in tWitch’s belongings after his passing, calling it an “alarming” moment. Some critics accused her of tarnishing her late husband’s legacy by labeling him a drug addict — an accusation Weslie firmly denied.
“My mom never said that Stephen was an addict,” Weslie said in her video. “When you have two years after somebody committed suicide to sit here and question every interaction you had, every single thing they did, obviously my mom’s like, maybe I should have paid more attention.”
Weslie also addressed why Holker requested non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) at Twitch’s funeral.
“My mom asked for NDAs to be signed when we were seeing Stephen’s body, because God forbid somebody that went to that took a photo and put it on the internet or shared it with somebody else,” she said. “That’s the type of things NDAs are for. It’s not so you can never talk about Stephen, you can’t ever talk about you grieving him, you can’t post about it, that’s not what it is.”
Despite criticism, Holker stands by her decision to share their story, saying she wants “to help people feel safe to ask for help and support.”
