Zoe Saldana is on a mission to introduce her sons to the world of dance. As a proud mother of three, the talented actress is eager to share her passion for movement and rhythm with her children, hoping to ignite their curiosity and creativity. Through her efforts, she hopes to inspire her boys to embrace the joy and benefits that come with dancing.
The 46-year-old actress sat down with W. Magazine for their first issue of 2025, sharing her reasoning behind attempting to persuade her sons to take up dance.
“I’m trying. I’m not going to give up. Studies have shown that it is so therapeutic for men to take any form of dance at a very early age or throughout their lives because they carry so much tension and emotion,” she tells the outlet.
It seems as if her eldest have taken up tap, and are even trying out Hip Hop, for the girls of course. Yet her youngest, isn’t interested at all. He has his sights set on another sport.
“At least my twins are tapping. My younger one, he couldn’t give a s— who is dancing. He wants to be Cristiano Ronaldo; he wants to be Lionel Messi,” she continues. “But my twins are very much like, ‘Yo, girls are in there? They’re dancing hip-hop?’ And they’ll dance.”
Earlier last year in an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Saldana opened up, telling the outlet that raising three boys is a “is a workout,” but that they find ways to have fun as a family. One of the things that Saldana and Perego constitute as family fun time is gaming.
“A big part of parenting is nurturing their curiosity, fostering their opinions, and meeting them where they’re at. So when my kids started to express interest in video games, I knew it was something we couldn’t ignore,” the actress told the outlet.
“The boys now are going to school and all of their friends are gaming, so every time they would come home they were just like, ‘Why can’t we do it? Why can’t we do it?’ They have certain needs and if I’m not meeting them, they do feel that they’re left behind and they do feel that they’re isolated at school.”
“So it was important my husband and I figured out a way to not only make it positive but to make it a family activity,” the 45-year-old added. “That’s why we’re all playing together. They’re not just in a corner, sucked into a screen; we’re all involved.”
Saldana shares her three children: Cy and Bowie, 10, and Zen, 8, with 45-year-old husband Marco Perego.
