According to its synopsis on Amazon, the story revolves around young Moses, who is adjusting to life in Harlem after moving from Texas.

With only his dog, Lotus-May, and bird, JoJo, for company, Moses embarks on an adventure to help his new neighbor Laila deliver jars of honey, paving the way for new friendships and magical experiences in the bustling neighborhood.

The book features historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater, famous for hosting legendary performances, and Sylvia’s Restaurant, a beloved spot for cornbread. As readers explore these iconic sites, they’ll also be immersed in the vibrant sounds and culture of Harlem.

In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Hall talks discusses Moses’ experiences when exploring new places.

“New people and new places can be exciting. For children these new experiences can be overwhelming and sometimes scary,” she told the outlet. “While traveling with Moses or just out in our neighborhood early on, I noticed how the child I saw at home was not always the same kid out in the world. ‘Mom I want to go home’ was said a lot.”

She hopes the book serves as a reflection of those moments, encouraging curiosity and connection. “Harlem was Moses’ first home but the Harlem Honey will travel far from New York in this new kids travel series I hope families will enjoy. Moses loves his home and my hope is that he will enjoy what beautiful new adventures and people await. I know other parents can relate!”

Harlem Honey: The Adventures of a Curious Child is set to officially hit shelves in March 2025, and you can get your copy here.
