Former NBA player Matt Barnes and his fiancée, Anansa Sims, have officially introduced their son, Austin Barnes!
In a joint Instagram post on Thursday, the couple shared photos of their newborn and announced details about his birth.
In their post, the pair revealed that their son, Austin Barnes, was born on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He weighed a healthy 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and measured 22 inches long.
They expressed their love in the caption, writing, “Mommy, Daddy, your brothers and sister love you so much!”
The sweet collection of photos included snapshots of baby Austin peacefully sleeping, as well as tender moments of him being cradled by his proud parents.
In a separate Instagram post, Barnes and Sims shared a video from the hospital, capturing the moment they welcomed Austin into the world. The emotional footage shows the couple surrounded by their children and Sims’ mother, the legendary supermodel Beverly Johnson, who was present to witness her grandson’s birth.
Johnson also left a comment on the birth announcement, writing, Oh my dear Austin… The joy you bring to your Mom, Dad, brothers, sister and Grandparents Is truly a gift. We love you so very much !!Thank you Jesus.”
Austin is the second child for the couple, who previously welcomed their son Ashton Joseph Barnes in 2018. Together, they are now raising a blended family of seven children.
Barnes shares twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, with his ex-wife, Gloria Govan, while Sims is a mother to three children from her previous marriage to ex-husband David Patterson Jr.
To celebrate their ever-growing family, Matt recently got a tattoo of the number 8 inked on his leg. The design is deeply symbolic, featuring the names of all of his children, including Anansa’s, to represent the unity and bond of their blended family.
Anansa couldn’t help but express her love for the thoughtful tribute, commenting, “So Beautiful Baby! The meaning, the symbolism, the love, the dedication, the tribute to our family and love we all share together. Love is an action word and Baby you show us daily with the things you do, not just say. A Partner, Best Friend, Father, Father Figure, Protector, Provider, True Example of a Man.”
