Known for her strong family values and unwavering support for her loved ones, Tina Knowles has always prioritized her family’s well-being. Recently, the mother of global superstars, Beyoncé and Solange, issued a stern warning to fans about her grandchildren.
As apart of Glamour’s Women of the Year issue, the mother-of-two opened up in an interview about how it feels to see comments about her children and grandchildren in the media. When it comes to her daughters, the 70-year-old said that she takes media reports, “… with a grain of salt most of the time.”
However, when it comes to her grandchildren, that’s an entirely different story in and of itself. “You mess with my grandchildren, though, I’m coming,” the grandmother-of-four said. “Because they’re minors, and they didn’t ask to be in this.”
Knowles is grandmother to Solange’s 19-year-old son, Julez Smith and to Beyoncé’s three children: daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 7.
Knowles admitted to the outlet that there have been several instances where she has allowed online trolls to best her, giving into their bait and replying to their comments. “I have gotten on and let people have a piece of my mind several times,” she said. “But I take a lot, and then there’s certain things that I just have to draw the line on.”
And like every grandparent will tell you, being a grandparent is less stressful than being a parent. And as you would expect, Knowles agrees.
“I’m not as stressed out about how they’re going to turn out,” she stated. “I don’t have that responsibility. So I can buy all the noisy toys that get on their parents’ nerves and do things that I didn’t get to do with my kids. It’s the best.”
And the glam-mother admits that when she is hanging out with her grandchildren, she enjoys becoming a kid again herself.
“I become a kid,” she told Glamour. “I was in the Hamptons with them, and I mean, I swung on a swing every day and swam and had fun. It’s like being a kid again.”
