Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev. Run from Run D.M.C., took to Instagram on September 22, 2024, to celebrate her son Sutton Joseph’s 8th birthday.
In a sweet post dedicated to her “heartbeat”, Simmons reflected on how fast the years have flown by.
In her caption, she wrote, “8 years came quicker than I could count for . Quicker than I could blink . God you are growing up so quick . I love you big boy !!!! Happy 8th Birthday to my heartbeat. Today is your day !!!” Simmons wrote alongside a collection of sweet photos showing her son over the years.
Sutton Jr. was born in 2016 to Angela and her then-fiancé, Sutton Tennyson Sr. Tragically, Tennyson Sr. was murdered in Atlanta in 2018, a devastating loss for both Angela and her son.
Despite the heartache, Angela has made it her mission to keep Sutton Sr.’s memory alive and ensure her son remains connected to his father’s legacy.
In 2023, the entrepreneur passed down her late fiancé’s “Little Giants Giant Shorties (L.G.G.S.)” children’s clothing business to Sutton Jr., announcing him as a young CEO.
“My baby is a young CEO. His father was sure to leave him behind something he can grow with. My son loves making money (hustling). It’s in his blood. It’s time to finally give him what’s his! Your son gets the torch now. Though you are not here with us your legacy lives on. Go time baby boy,’ Angela shared in an Instagram post.
Angela also recently celebrated her own birthday just a few days before her son’s. On September 18, 2024, the star celebrated her 37th birthday with her boyfriend of nearly two years, Yo Gotti.
The couple enjoyed a luxurious getaway in the Utah mountains, where Gotti surprised Simmons with extravagant gifts totaling $500,000. Among the gifts were coveted pieces from Hermès, including a matching Himalaya Kelly Birkin bag and a diamond Himalaya watch.
Between receiving her lavish presents and relaxing poolside, Simmons enjoyed the scenic retreat with Gotti capturing special moments on camera.
