Many celebrities, whether they be musicians or actors, are opting to either dissuade their children all together from pursuing a career in entertainment or they are encouraging them to wait until they are 18. Well, songstress and actress Janet Jackson is also weighing in on the subject. In a recent interview with the British television show, Loose Women, stays that her talented son, Eissa, is going to have to “wait until he is 18” to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
When asked whether or not her son would follow in her and her family’s famous footsteps, the 58-year-old mother began her answer by saying that, “It’s about him.”
“If that’s what he wants, but I would say that he has to wait until he’s of age and still make sure that’s what he wants to do,” she added. “Whatever you do is very difficult. The industry is very tough, but he would have to wait until he is 18.”
Jackson went on to tell the popular television program that the seven-year-old is “incredibly musical” and “loves” his drum kit that was given to him by The Roots singer, Questlove; however, he is also in to classical music and is not taking cello lessons.
“So he has a cello … He takes cello lessons. He loves his cello lessons,” Janet revealed.
Jackson and her ex-husband, Wissam Al Mana, welcomed their son, Eissa Al Mana in 2017.
“The biggest change in my life is my son Eissa,” Jackson said at the time in the LifeTime television documentary, Velvet Rope. “He’s my heart, he’s my life. I don’t have as much rehearsal time because I have a son. A beautiful boy! … He’s my heart, he’s my life. … I love being a mother, I love my new job.”
Al Mana and the Different Strokes alum agreed to keep their child out of the public eye; however, Eissa did get the opportunity to “[stand] proudly at the side of the stage wearing ear defenders,” while accompanying his mother on her “Together Again” tour.
We will hopefully get a glimpse of Eissa and his talent one day soon!
