Disney definitely knows how to keep fans excited with anticipation as they prepare for the premiere of a rebooted series. Wizards of Waverly Place fans are truly getting excited as the entertainment giant has just dropped a first-look at the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
The magic is unquestionably about to come back to the small screen in the rebooted series, which stars actress, Janice LeeAnn Brown. So, just what can fans expect from the new series? Well, take a look at a brief synopsis below according to Deadline.com.
The revival pilot comes from writers and executive producers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas who are behind another Disney Channel comedy spinoff, Raven’s Home. It picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door… and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.
“Wizards of Waverly Place captivated hearts with its spellbinding adventures and big laughs, creating unforgettable memories for kids and families everywhere,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a previous statement about the upcoming series.
“We can’t wait to step back into the magical world of Wizards, inviting longtime fans and a new generation to experience the enchantment alongside Selena, David, and our incredible cast and crew.”
In addition to Brown, who will portray the young wizard Billie, in the series, Disney is also bringing back series originals, Selena Gomez (Alex Russo) and David Henrie (Justin Russo). Both Gomez and Henrie will serve as executive producers of the project. Gomez, for now is only slated to appear in the premiere episode of the show where as Henrie is scheduled to be in multiple episodes.
New cast members for the upcoming project include: Alkaio Thiele will be Roman Russo, Justin’s older son, Max Matenko, his younger son, and Mimi Gianopulos is Justin’s wife, Giada.
Although we don’t have a definite premiere date as of yet, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is slated to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.
