Kim Kardashian has revealed that one of her sons has rare skin disorder, vitiligo.
Speaking on the “She MD” podcast on Monday, she discussed her own battle with psoriasis and opened up about her child’s condition.
“It came from my mom, went to me … and I passed it on in a different form to my son, who has vitiligo very mildly,” the reality star said.
She clarified that her son’s vitiligo is now “under control, but did not specify whether it is Saint, 8, or Psalm, 5, who has been diagnosed.
Kim did, however, mention that both boys, along with daughters North, 11, and Chicago, 6, have also had minor eczema issues.
Vitiligo, which affects a small percentage of the global population, occurs when pigment-producing cells stop functioning. Learning about the condition and its hereditary nature was a new experience for Kim.
“I didn’t know anything about it, but having to learn about it and figuring out where it came from and that it’s hereditary and just learning more and being able to share that [has been a blessing].”
Kim also shared insights into her own struggle with psoriasis, which began in her 30s. She recalled first noticing the symptoms while wearing a sequined dress at her nephew Mason’s birthday party. Despite trying various treatments, including holistic remedies and a celery juice diet, her condition has persisted.
“I’ll do anything,” she told host Dr. Thais Aliabadi. “I’ve tried … special herbs, the holistic way, a celery juice diet for six weeks, every topical cream, every soap from natural to unnatural.”
“It’s here to stay,” Kim laughed, showing her acceptance for the chronic condition.
Kim shares her four children with her ex-husband Kanye West. The former couple divorced in 2022 and have been co-parenting since.
“Coparenting is really f–king hard,” Kim shared on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast in December 2022. “I had the best dad and the best experiences, and that is all I want for my kids. As long as they can have that, that is what I want for them.”
