Isabella Strahan, the 19-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan, delivered some incredible news on her YouTube series on Thursday.
After an emergency surgery in October 2023 to remove a large medulloblastoma—a malignant tumor in her cerebellum—Isabella has revealed that she is now cancer-free.
In her recent vlog, titled “Goodbye Hospital,” Isabella returned to Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, N.C., to have her chemotherapy port removed.
She talked about the pain she felt the day after the procedure, describing sharp aches in her neck and stomach.
“My side hurts a lot. It feels like I got stabbed. I was like, ‘Oh it doesn’t hurt that much.’ I think it’s because all of the stuff wore off… I can’t stand up straight,” she explained.
She also noted feeling discomfort that seemed to involve her heart, saying, “I also feel like the tube was going into my heart because my heart started cramping. I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen but… not enjoyable.”
“It definitely doesn’t feel great,” she added.
Despite her discomfort, Isabella was thrilled when she received the results of her MRI. The scan showed no signs of cancer, which meant she was officially cancer-free.
“It was a great, great scan,” she said. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October.”
Isabella expressed her deep appreciation for her medical team, saying, “I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice,” she said. “I feel like I’m just saddened today knowing that I wasn’t gonna be going back for awhile because I love them so much. So, that was my last hospital vlog until October!”
Last month, Isabella celebrated the end of her cancer treatment with a special hospital bell ceremony, surrounded by family and friends.
Michael Strahan took to Instagram to praise his daughter, writing, “@isabellastrahan you are a SUPERWOMAN! Ringing that bell, finishing chemo and on your way!” Strahan wrote on Instagram. “You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella.”
