Comedian Gary Owen and his fiancée, Brianna Johnson, celebrated a special milestone this past weekend-their twins’ first birthday!
The proud parents took to Instagram on Sunday to share photos from their sons’ smash cake photoshoot, which showed the little ones dressed in opposing Bengals and Texans uniforms.
“Happy 1st Birthday to my boys. Still trying to figure out how I got twins and one looks like @joeyb_9 & one looks like @cj7stroud. You never know what you getting with mixed babie,” Owen humorously captioned the snaps, referencing NFL quarterbacks Joe Burrow and C.J. Stroud.
In a recent episode of “Club Shay Shay,” Gary sat down with Shannon Sharpe for a revealing conversation about the highs and lows of his personal life. The comedian opened up about the challenges he’s faced, from his divorce to Kenya Duke to the estrangement from his older children and the unexpected joy of welcoming twins.
“One’s white, one’s black. One’s got blue eyes and the other one brown eyes,” Owen said, reflecting on the distinct differences between his twins.
Owen also shared his feelings about becoming a father again, despite not having a relationship with his older children. “”I didn’t think I wanted to be a father again and not having relationship with my kids,” he admitted.
The comedian expressed his sorrow over his older children’s lack of relationship with their younger siblings. “The twins, they’re just awesome. That’s sucks too is my kids they don’t know them. They don’t have no relationship with them. I don’t want them to meet them when they’re four or five.”
Gary Owen and his ex-wife, Kenya Duke, were together for 23 years and married for nearly 18 before finalizing their divorce in March 2021. The aftermath of the split has been particularly tough, with Owen revealing that he has had minimal contact with Duke and their three children—Kennedy, Emilio, and Austin—since the divorce.
Reflecting on the impact of the divorce, Owen shared his pain over the estrangement from his children. “It’s been three, three and a half years,” he said, referring to the time since he last spoke to his kids. “It’s a nightmare. It’s like they’re my greatest accomplishments and my greatest failure at the same time.”
Despite the heartache, Owen remains hopeful for a future reconciliation. “I don’t know how I became this evil human being that they want nothing to do with,” he shared. “At this point, I don’t know how to reconcile the relationship. I’m just letting them know that I love them. I’m proud of them and whenever they call, I don’t care where I’m, I’m there.”
