Alicia Keys brought a touch of family magic to the 77th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday night held in New York City.
Dressed in a stunning red gown, the Grammy-winning singer was accompanied by her two sons, Genesis, 9, and Egypt, 13, whom she shares with her husband, Swizz Beatz. Also joining them was the singers’ parents as well as Kasseem Jr., 17, Swizz Beatz’s son from a previous relationship.
The occasion was especially significant for Keys and her family as they celebrated the success of Hell’s Kitchen, the Broadway musical inspired by Alicia’s own childhood memories in New York City.
Debuting in April, Hell’s Kitchen earned a whopping 13 nominations at the 77th annual Tony Awards, including for costume design and best musical. While it didn’t win best musical, Hell’s Kitchen took home two Tony Awards: best actress in a musical for Maleah Joi Moon and best featured actress in a musical for Kecia Lewis.
During the show, Alicia wowed the audience with a performance alongside the cast of Hell’s Kitchen. The night got even more exciting when she and JAY-Z reunited to perform their iconic hit “Empire State of Mind.”
As she sang, JAY-Z appeared onstage via video screen, rapping his verses from a set of stairs. The video transitioned to show Keys joining him, continuing their unforgettable performance together.
Although Swizz Beatz couldn’t attend in person as he was celebrating Father’s Day with family in Saudi Arabia, he expressed his pride for his wife on Instagram. “I’ve watched my wife build this for 13 yrs and now seeing this come to life is EPIC BLESSINGS.C ongrats @aliciakeys and the entire @hellskitchenbway team and family.
