SpongeBob SquarePants fans will really get their fill of Bikini Bottom this year and next. Not only are SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends under the sea marking their 25th anniversary as one of Nickelodeon‘s most beloved shows, characters Sandy Cheeks and Plankton are both getting their own Netflix movies.
First up to hit the streaming service with their own movie is the adventurous squirrel from Texas, Sandy Cheeks, in Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
Sandy Cheeks’ movie will premiere on August 2, 2024. According to JustJaredJr.com, the movie will pick up with Bikini Bottom and all its denizens are suddenly scooped out of the ocean. Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants journey to Texas to save the town from a villainous plot.
In addition voice cast regulars, Wanda Sykes, Johnny Knoxville, Craig Robinson, Grey Delisle, Ilia Isorelys Paulino and Matty Cardarople will also star in the movie.
Next year, fans can expect to see one of the most villainous drifting sea organisms, Plankton, taking center stage in Plankton: The Movie. According to the same outlet, this film will follow Plankton, whose world is flipped upside down, when his plan for world domination is thwarted.
Plankton: The Movie will star Mr. Lawrence as Plankton, Jill Talley as his computer wife Karen, Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, Clancy Brown as Mr Krabs and Rodger Bumpass as Squidward.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 is slated to air live on Saturday, July 13, at 8 PM ET/PT from the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA.
