Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas was ever the proud father as he watched his daughter, Izela Arenas, graduate from high school on Saturday, June 2.
Following the graduation, the doting dad took to Instagram to share photos from the occasion.
One such snapshot showed Arenas flasing a wide smile as he posed next to his daughter. “Congratulations”, he simply captioned.
Gilbert shares Izela and her siblings with ex-girlfriend Laura Govan, who also expressed her pride on Instagram. She wrote, “At The Blink Of N Eye… It’s Over For High School… On to Our Next Chapter… University Of Louisville… it’s Taken Me Some Time To Put Any Words Together. (Crying) Days, Months, Years, I NEVER wanted this Day To Come But Time Stops For NO. It Just Happened So Fast.”
Continuing, Govan said, “I Want To Do It ALL OVER again. You Think It’s Hard You’re Leaving Imagine Me Letting YOU GO. I Want To ForEvEr Keep You In My Arms, & Never Let Go. But, I’m also Excited For What’s To Come What’s Next In Your New Journey In This Ride Y’all Call Life! Following in her father’s footsteps in basketball, Izela Arenas has committed to the Louisville Cardinals Women’s Basketball team. Gilbert publicly congratulated his daughter on her commitment in October 2023, affirming his support for her endeavors.
“Congratulations to @izelaaarenas on her commitment to the University of Louisville. Go Cardinals!”
Arenas, known for his illustrious 12-year NBA career, during which he earned three All-Star nods with the Washington Wizards from 2004 to 2007, now revels in the achievements of his children.
Together, he and Laura Govan are the proud parents of four children: Alijah, Aloni, Hamiley, and Izela Arenas.
