Congratulations are in order for Ayla Rae Neal. The talented young actress, singer, and model is set to star in the new upcoming Wayans CBS sitcom, Poppa’s House.
You may know young Ayla Rae’s face as she is no stranger to the small screen. The 12-year-old actress portrayed Young Olivia in the prime time hit, All American, among many other amazing projects.
In the upcoming sitcom, starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., Ayla Rae will portray Maya.
So just what can Wayans family fans expect from this new CBS sitcom? Well, according to Entertainment Tonight, here is a brief synopsis of what viewers can expect from Poppa’s House.
Poppa’s House, in which Wayans stars as a “legendary talk radio host and happily divorced ‘Poppa.'” Poppa “has his point of view changed at work when a new female co-host (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son (Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.”
Damon Wayans and Wayans Jr. both took a moment of their schedules to speak to ET about the project, saying that it has taken a decade to bring it to fruition. Wayans Jr. went on tell the outlet that viewers can indeed expect a lot of “fun” from the show.
“There’s definitely gonna be a lot of fun,” the younger Wayans said. “And my goal is to make him laugh and his goal is to make me laugh. And when we make each other laugh, then it’s infectious.”
He went on to joke about the uncanny resemblance between he and his father.
“It’s weird, ’cause even FaceTiming with him I’m like, ‘Wow, we look a lot alike,'” Wayans Jr. said. “It’s strange, like, if someone makes a voodoo doll out of me you’re getting hurt, too.”
In addition to Ayla Rae, Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans, Jr. the show will also star Essence Atkins (Are We There Yet?), and Tetona Jackson (All Night). The upcoming sitcom is written by Damon Wayans and Kevin Hench. The series will be directed by Andy Ackerman.
