Singer Llyod joined Ashanti on stage at the Met Philadelphia on Sunday night, May 19. As they performed their hit song “Southside,” Lloyd knelt before Ashanti and sang his verse to her unborn child, while she danced along.
After their performance, Lloyd posted a photo of himself and Ashanti on Instagram alongside a heartfelt caption for her unborn child.
He wrote, “Dear Baby Haynes, you are surrounded by love, by good energy, and by ppl who have prayed for your piece of mind way before you were born.”
He added, “One day I will tell you of the times I got to sing to you while still in your mothers belly, of how your mommy changed my life, and of how your dad was there for me when I needed a little love and guidance. Can’t wait to meet you and make you laugh. Inshallah, Your Uncle Ladi.”
Ashanti, moved by Lloyd’s words, commented, “Omggggg I’m cryinggggg and u know I don’t cry… Thanku Ladi love u soooooooooo much!!!!! Such beautiful and meaningful words… I truly appreciate you so much. I’m literally crying.”
The songstress later posted a video from the night with the caption, “Such an incredibly special moment. We love you uncle Ladi!!!!!!”
Ashanti and her fiance Nelly reignited their romance in December and revealed their pregnancy soon after. In an ad for Proov last month, Ashanti officially announced her pregnancy and shared some pictures of her growing baby bump. Ever since then, the mom-to-be has been taking fans along on her pregnancy journey.
Baby Haynes will be the first child for Ashanti. Nelly is already a father to daughter Chanelle, born in 1994, and Cornell Hayes III, born in 1999, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Channetta Valentine. He is also an adoptive father to his late sister’s kids, Shawn and Sydney Thomas.
