Ashanti took to Instagram earlier today to wish everyone a belated Mother’s Day. The singer, who is expecting her first child with Nelly, shared photos from her celebration.
In the pictures, Ashanti proudly shows off her baby bump while standing next to Nelly. The couple also posed with their family, including Nelly’s daughter and grandson.
Ashanti expressed her joy, writing, “This Mother’s Day was so special… having our families together as we are about to embark on such an incredible journey was amazing. Wishing all of the amazing Moms and Moms to be a beautiful Mother’s Day/ Pre Mothers Day!!!!! #grateful yeah yeah I know I’m late… it was so much food I got distracted Ps… I only had 1 plate tho.”
She also shared a heartfelt message to her own mom, saying, “I’m a lil late lol but screaming Happy Mother’s Day to the most Amazing Mom, protecter, rider, best friend, cry on shoulder, always lift me up, hilarious, fly, beautiful, baddie, original Momanger Ever!!!!!!! I love u more than words will ever express. I’m soooooo grateful to have u in my life. Praying I can be at least half the mother you are. The Epitome strength, love and sacrifice. Last month, Ashanti confirmed that she is pregnant and expecting her first child with Nelly. She also announced that she is engaged to her longtime love.
“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” she tells Essence. “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
