Wayne Brady is set to star alongside his family in an all-new reality series, titled Wayne Brady: The Family Remix.
Premiering this summer, the show promises an exclusive look into the life of Wayne Brady, showcasing the man beyond the spotlight.
In a press release statement, the show is described as turning the term “modern family on its head” as it delves into Brady’s blended family dynamic with ex-wife Mandie Taketa.
Despite divorcing in 2008, Brady and Taketa have maintained a close bond focused on co-parenting their daughter Maile, now 21.
What’s more, Brady is deeply involved in the life of Taketa’s 3-year-old son, Sundance-Isamu, whom she shares with her partner, Jason Fordham.
Brady himself took to Instagram to share his excitement about the upcoming premiere, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share a glimpse of his life with fans.
He wrote, “We did it family & friends! Thank you for giving us the chance to share a moment of our lives with you starting July 24th on @freeform & @hulu ☺️ Wayne Brady: The Family Remix!!!”
In a teaser video, Brady introduced his family as “The Core Four,” highlighting his close relationship with Taketa, whom he affectionately calls his “soulmate” and “ride or die.” The clip also showcased their daughter Maile and Fordham, described as Brady’s former backup dancer turned best friend.
Beyond the family dynamics, the series will also explore Brady’s personal journey, including his recent revelation about being pansexual.
“With Brady at a sudden crossroads in his life, “Untitled Wayne Brady & Family Project” (working title) offers an intimate look into his blended family’s personal life – revealing unexpected points of view and values that most people (including his own family) have a hard time understanding,” the press release states.
Wayne Brady: The Family Remix premieres on Freeform on July 24, at 10:00 p.m. ET, with streaming available on Hulu.
