Nara Smith is giving fans a glimpse into her process of choosing unique names for her kids.
Recently welcoming daughter Whimsy Lou with husband Lucky Blue Smith, Nara took to TikTok on April 17 to reveal other names they considered for the newest addition.
“These are some baby names that I loved, but I didn’t use this time around. For reference, our kids have pretty unique names. Our daughter’s name is Rumble Honey Smith, our son’s name is Slim Easy Smith and then we just had little Whimsy Lou Smith,” she said.
Before settling on Whimsy Lou, Nara admitted that she and Lucky were close to naming their daughter Tink, with Bow as a top contender for her middle name.
Exploring a theme of whimsy, the influencer also toyed with the idea of fruit-inspired names like Lemon, Plum, and Clementine. Other options included Pippen (or Pip for short), Dottie (or Dot), and Ivy, which held a special significance as it almost became Nara’s own name.
Reflecting on her son’s name, Slim Easy Smith, Nara admitted it was a tougher decision. She shared that she and Lucky considered names like Halo, Dust, Dew, Mercer, and Flick, showcasing their willingness to think outside the box.
Unsurprisingly, Nara’s unconventional choices has sparked a range of reactions from fans. While some praise the uniqueness of the names, others express skepticism.
“As an educator…I politely ask that you remove yourself from the baby name suggestion committee,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“Clementine, Ivy, and Halo, maybe Mercer I could see, she lost me at everything else,” another said.
“I LOVE UNIQUE NAMES!!!!!! All they did was get straight to the nicknames we already call our kids, sweethearts and pets,” another commented.
However, Nara anticipated these varied responses, prefacing her lists with a lighthearted disclaimer: “These might be a little out there, a little bit more controversial, but in case anybody needs some ideas for their kids.”
