Congratulations are in order for Dear White People actress, Ashely Blaine Featherson-Jenkins, and her husband, Darrol Jenkins, as they are expecting their first child!
The 36-year-old actress and her husband shared the good news earlier this week in a touching video via social media.
“Even though we know someday you’re gonna shine on your own, we’ll be your projectors. Born to be your protectors #pregnancy #pregnancyannouncement #ivfjourney #ivfsuccess,” the caption read that accompanied the video post.
In the beginning of the actual video, the Trials To Triumphs Podcast host sends a special message to their baby.
“See you soon. We love you. We hope you look like us, but you’re probably just gonna look like him,” Featherson-Jenkins says as she pans the camera to include her husband.
“But I really hope you look like me a little bit, just a little bit, that would be amazing,” she concludes before inviting fans to share in her personal IVF journey set to Beyonce and Rumi Carter’s “Protector”.
Featherson-Jenkins allows fans to experience her pre-transfer acupuncture which lead into the weeks of her giving herself the PIO injections. She proudly shows off an image of the embryo that, “we made” prior to transfer. Fans also get to share in that moment that the couple got the news that they were “officially pregnant.”
The sweet video draws closer to the end with Featherson-Jenkins and her husband taking a mirror selfie wearing matching shirts that say, “IVF Mom” and “IVF Dad”.
However, the ending shot, will unquestionably produce a few happy tears in celebration for the couple.
Needless to say, fans and famous friends alike all flooded the post’s comments section with congratulatory messages.
Featherson-Jenkins’ Dear White People co-star, Logan Laurice Browning, wrote, “I am so emotional again watching this. So many of my friends and loved ones have experienced this IVF journey and it means so much to witness it shared in this beautiful way. I’m so happy for you two and I can’t wait to meet baby Jenkins.”
Second season co-star Lena Waithe commented, “Yaaayy the announcement we’ve all been waiting for ! I love y’all. Can’t wait to meet my niece!”
Songstress, Michelle Williams wrote, “Awwwwwwww!! Congratulations!” followed by two red hearts.
Actress, writer, and creator of Parenthood Journey, Kellee Steward wrote, “AMEN!!!!!! We’ve been waiting for the world to know this little secret in your tribe’s hearts!! Congratulations Ash and D!!! So very happy for your growing family!! May your pregnancy, birth, and parenthood journey be forever BLESSED!!”
Featherson-Jenkins and her husband were married in September of 2021.
