Offering positive compliments about someone’s hair, outfit, makeup, and more can have a significant impact on them in that moment. Building confidence through uplifting words undoubtedly contributes to a better world. Serena Williams is setting an example by encouraging her daughter Olympia to “give others compliments” and keep this positive cycle going.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the WYN Beauty founder expanded on her approach to creating this special foundation for her daughters.
“For me, it’s super important for them to love who they are and whatever they look like. I also foster that positivity by encouraging them to give others compliments, especially other girls compliments.”
As we all know, children learn by imitation. And of course, Williams is not shy about modeling the actions of giving compliments to others herself.
“So if I see a girl in their class, I’m like, ‘Oh, she looks pretty, right?’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, I like her hair.’ I’m like, ‘I like her hair, too.’ So just kind of encouraging that, because it doesn’t matter what they look like.”
“If you can find something positive about them then you’re also going to find something positive about you and then you’re gonna win,” she added.
Williams recently dropped a new beauty line, WYN Beauty, that “… evolved from my lifelong passion for makeup, and the entire collection is authentic to who I am — from the clean formulas to the inspiring shade names to the chartreuse packaging that pays homage to my career in tennis,” she explained in a recent interview with Byrdie.
“My personal best has changed over the years, and WYN Beauty is the next evolution of my beauty journey.”
No pun intended, but it unquestionably looks like Williams had found multiple ways to keep winning all the way around off of the court!
The 42-year-old athlete shares daughters Olympia, 8 and Adira, 8 months, with husband Alexis Ohanian.
