S.W.A.T. actor Shemar Moore is “baby stepping” his way through figuring out fatherhood.
In a recent interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Moore opened up about his fatherhood journey with his 13-month-old daughter Frankie Meleine Kapule Moore.
From the start, the actor described fatherhood, as “crazy”. More admitted, “You know, it’s crazy. It’s crazy.”
Hudson took the moment to ask if there were plans for other children, “[Are] there any more [babies] in the works?”
Moore replied, “Right now, I’m enjoying what I got.”
Shemar, who is an only child, shared that his mother was very focused only on him. Currently, he is enjoying pampering Frankie and giving just her attention while adjusting to fatherhood.
“Maybe too soon for her, but trust me in those 37 years, my daughter’s gonna have game,” he continued. “She’s gonna know what time it is. She’s gonna know she’s somebody.”
However, he is not navigating parenthood alone. His girlfriend, Jesiree Dizon, who is the mother of his daughter, and has two children from previous relationships, is guiding him through the process.
“Thank goodness for that because I just follow her lead in mommy-hood and fatherhood and all that,” Moore said. “So I’m baby-stepping just trying to figure it all out.”
As an older first-time father, the actor expressed to Hudson his wish is to have sufficient time for his daughter.
“I look at little Frankie and I’m like, God willing, I’m 53 years old so, give me 37 years. That gets me to 90 [years-old]. That’s a full life for me.”
Moore added, “So for the rest of whatever life I have left, I want to continue to do my thing and be successful, but I just want to make her proud and give her everything I’ve got.”
