Tyrese Gibson has expressed his frustration over the hefty $20,000 monthly child support he’s been ordered to pay for his four-year-old daughter, Soraya Gibson.
During a recent appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast, the actor and singer slammed his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, questioning the need for such a substantial amount.
He said, “We never spent $20,000 on my daughter when we were together, and I had the money. Like, who spends that kind of money on a kid? [My daughter] was one when [Samantha] took my baby from me.”
He continued, “We never spent $20,000 a month on our child and the credit card was wide open, so what the f@#$ do you suddenly need that kind of money for?”
Following the viral podcast interview, Samantha Lee took to Instagram to share a motivational video titled “The Shocking Truth About Trust: My Hardest Lesson.” The caption, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” led to speculation that it might be a subtle response to Tyrese’s accusations. However, Lee clarified that the post was unrelated and inspired by a clip from Bishop TD Jakes.
Tyrese, not one to back down, reposted Lee’s video and accused her of seeking fame and clout. In his response, he wrote, “She wants to be famous, she wants the clout. She had a whole baby and faked a whole marriage to get the BAG. 3 law firms later… just hear her out guys….”
Gibson went on to ask Samantha to “run” his last name back. “Soraya can keep it that our angel,” he wrote. “Your trash a** birth name is Samantha Schwalenberg.”
The former couple married in 2017 and welcomed their only daughter, Soraya, in 2018. Samantha initiated divorce proceedings from the entertainer in 2020, three years after their secret Valentine’s Day nuptials.
