Eight-year-old Brooke Lauren Sumpter has accomplished things that many adults only dream of. The talented preteen is taking the fashion world by storm, and we are grateful to have a front row seat for the journey.
The talented creative made a dress for Emmy-nominated actress, New York Times Bestselling author, and entrepreneur, Tabitha Brown to wear to the annual Hollywood event. At the time, Sumpter excitedly posted on social media awestruck that her first trip to the City of Angels was as a result of her “designs”.
“Look at 7 year old me doing a fitting and alterations for @iamtabithabrown for the Emmy Awards,” Sumpter captioned her post. She continued, “Who would’ve ever thought My first trip to Cali would be for my designs… I am extremely grateful and I definitely had a blast!!!! Thank you so much @iamtabithabrown”
In addition to dressing A-list celebrities, Sumpter has also made history in the industry with two other “firsts”. At seven-years-old, she became the youngest person to showcase her designs during New York Fashion Week. And, she is also the youngest person to have her own clothing store front inside of a mall, proving “you are never too young to start your dream!”
Sumpter is CEO and founder of @brookelaurenchildrensbrand. With her new collection dropping soon, a sneak peek already available on her official website, Sumpter simply wants to focus on “quality”.
In a teaser Instagram post, the young designer said that, “My Focus is not bigger, it’s quality 🫶🏽 And I want to make sure that it’s something I’m proud of years from now 😍.”
A few months ago, Sumpter appeared on The Tamron Hall Show to talk about her designs, her history-making moments, the Emmy dress, and much more. Take a look below to view the entire segment.
