Keke Palmer is already setting her sights on her son’s future, contemplating the values she hopes to instill in him.. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 2023 Black Music Action Coalition Gala, the former Disney/Nickelodeon star shared that she wants her son to learn how to “use his resources, use his privilege for good.”
“I mean, that’s the whole point, right? We all continue to grow, each generation, we try to provide our children and the next generation with something more than what we had,” the Nope star, said to the popular entertainment television show.
“So he’s definitely gonna have more than what I had growing up. I want him to take that and use it to benefit others. Because I think that’s the point, you know? Why else are we here?”
The 30-year-old mother is unquestionably leading by example for her son as she won the Social Impact Award at the 2023 Black Music Action Coalition Gala. She told ET that the award “means everything” to her.
“It means everything. I mean, when I came into the industry, you know, my talents were there, but it was also, what I could do with my talents, how I could represent my community, and do something that would push us forward, hopefully, in a positive way. And so to be honored for that, it means so much.”
Back in July of 2023, Palmer, in an interview with The Cut, talked in-depth about her postpartum body snap back. She continued the conversation with personal celebrity trainer, Corey Calliet, on her podcast. Palmer got real about postpartum weight loss, encouraging mothers to not compare their own bodies with those of celebrities.
“Anytime you see a celebrity doing a snap back or whatever like that, it’s part of the damn gig,” Palmer said during the episode of the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. “A part of our jobs is to look good and to look the part. So don’t think it’s this thing where it’s like, ‘We doing it because we got it like that.’ No, the job is on the line,” she said, adding, “If we want the checks to get signed, we got to be what we got to be.”
The multi-hyphenated entertainer went on to say that although she is on a new journey for herself, she doesn’t want to set “unrealistic body standards” for others because “your journey is your journey.”
