It was a twenty-first birthday celebration to remember as Aoki Lee Simmons commemorated her special day earlier this week. Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons’ youngest daughter shared pictures that shed light on her thoughts for the day.
Aoki prepared her fans for her twenty-first birthday by counting down two days before the big event. “The Barbie forgot she’s turning 21 in two days,” the model shared on Monday (Aug. 14). Dozens commented on Aoki counting down to her birthday.
“This Barbie is perfect,” one fan said. “Happy counting down,” another supporter added. The fan was also shocked that Aoki graduated from Harvard at 20 years old.
It was a few weeks ago that Kimora Lee Simmons took to Instagram to share excitement about her daughter’s accomplishment. “My baby girl is a HARVARD GRADUATE,” Kimora exclaimed. “AND with a double major,” the proud mom continued. “AND one of the youngest in recent history to do so at only 20 years young,” Kimora further doted.
“This is CRAZYY! IM SO SO SOO PROUD! AND all the while carrying a full-time job modeling! But YOU DID IT!-WE DID IT! Mama loves you soooo much my brainy beauty! These are hard-fought tears anyone who knows us will know!”
Aoki is determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Kimora hopes her youngest daughter considers a career in law and fashion.
“I have been trying to apply an academic framework to my life because it’s important for me,” Aoki shared during a recent interview with HuffPost. “The gig economy of modeling is baffling to my brain, so I’ve been trying to understand my job,” she added.
Some have discounted Aoki Lee Simmons because of the fortune her parents have amassed. The young adult is, however, determined to carve out her own path independent of her mom and dad.
“I’m never going to be the person who stands up and says, ‘I started from the bottom,’ because it’s not true,” Aoki admitted “I’m never gonna give you the Drake line. It’s not accurate,” she added. “When it comes to my plans, I want to forge my own path,” Aoki told the press.
