Happy Birthday wishes are in order for Jennifer Hudson‘s son, David Otunga, Jr. Recently, the EGOT-winner celebrated in grand fashion her son’s 14th birthday!
The Grammy-winner posted a touching video for her fans to wish her son a Happy Birthday on Thursday.
“Team Jhud can yal pls help me wish wish my kid DOJ a very happy 14th BIRTHDAY, today ! Wow yal wow , I can not believe that I now have a 14 yr old !!!! God is so good !!!! Time to celebrate !!! #proudmom.”
Hudson asked the soon-to-be high school student in the video, “Why you got that 13 on? Ain’t you 14 today?” referencing the number on his shirt.
David replied with a smile and laugh, “Yeah, this is the shirt I wore a year ago today.”
Not even two months ago, David celebrated his graduation from middle school. The American Idol alum shared a carousel of images of the milestone moment, captioning her post, “It’s official !!! My baby is a high schooler now!”
She continued, “We had such a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends. I am sooo proud of you DOJ ! Team Jhud can yal help give DOJ a huge congratulations !”
In a recent interview with Real Simple, Hudson got candid about raising a young Black Man in today’s world. She told the popular news outlet that not only guide him, but make him “aware”.
“Being a mom of a Black son, you have to make him conscious of and aware of certain things—who he is within the world. And there’s so many layers he has to learn! But he’s at an age where he can fully understand it. And he’s so evolved beyond what I could ever imagine.”
Hudson goes on to say that David is “very rooted in who he is and OK with that.”
