Future’s ex, Brittni Mealy, has emerged victorious in her legal battle to secure a higher monthly child support payment from the rapper.
According to RadarOnline.com, the rapper must pay Mealy $5k per month for their 10-year-old son Prince.
The court decision was based on Future’s gross monthly income, which was revealed to be over $30,000, compared to Mealy’s income of approximately $14,000 per month.
The legal dispute dates back to 2021 when Brittni filed a lawsuit against Future, seeking additional financial support for their child. She argued that Future’s income had significantly increased since the original child support order was established in 2014, during which he was paying $3,000 per month for Prince’s care.
Mealy’s legal filing outlined several grievances, including Future’s alleged failure to fulfill his scheduled parenting time and his refusal to contribute to additional expenses related to their child.
One of the key issues raised in Brittni Mealy’s lawsuit was Future’s alleged failure to maintain dental insurance for Prince, as was initially agreed upon.
Additionally, she claimed that she incurred unforeseen daycare costs because Future often failed to show up during his designated custody time. This, she argued, placed an undue burden on her as a primary caregiver and negatively impacted Prince’s stability and routine.
Unsurprisingly, Future opposed Mealy’s request for increased child support in court. He maintained that the existing $3,000 per month payment was sufficient to cover Prince’s needs adequately. Future did admit to not obtaining dental insurance for their son, but he claimed to be in the process of rectifying the matter. Despite this assertion, the court considered Mealy’s claims seriously, leading to the final ruling in her favor.
