Atlanta star LaKeith Stanfield and his wife, model Kasmere Trice Stanfield, have officially tied the knot and are now embracing the joys of parenthood with their new baby!
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, LaKeith expressed how becoming a parent has completely transformed his perspective on life, remarking, “There’s life before being a parent, and then there’s life being a parent.”
The couple previously announced their engagement via Instagram in December of last year. They opted for a private wedding ceremony and have now decided to open up about their romantic journey and the exciting arrival of their baby.
“We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible,” Kasmere says of their child, whose name and sex they’ve chosen to withhold.
Adds LaKeith: “Being in the public eye can be something that’s amazing, but it can also be something that is very hard on you. There needs to be things that exist that are sacred and not for consumption for everybody.” Their reason for speaking out now: “We want to be the ones to tell our story. We’re bringing our family forward so we may inspire others.”
With two daughters from previous relationships, LaKeith is now embracing a fresh, happy chapter in his life alongside Kasmere, who is experiencing the wonders of motherhood for the first time.
“I’m really honored that I got to see the father in [him] before I was even having our baby,” Kashmere says.
LaKeith Stanfield is known for his intense, scene-stealing performances, including the role of the eccentric Darius in the FX series Atlanta and a mysterious key figure in 2017’s horror hit Get Out. His portrayal of an FBI informant in Judas and the Black Messiah earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2021.
Currently starring in the new film Haunted Mansion, LaKeith is also focusing on his passion for music due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. His EP Brother, which combines synth and soul, will be released later this summer under his stage name Htiekal (LaKeith spelled backward).
