Beyonce’s half-brother Nixon Knowles yearns for a bond with his big sister. According to the 13-year-old’s mother, Alexsandra Wright, the teenager doesn’t have contact with the renowned singer, leading him to feel excluded.
Wright, who shares Nixon with Beyoncé’s father Matthew Knowles, told the Sun that her son often asks, “‘Why doesn’t [Beyonce] love me?’ ”
A former public relations representative for Microsoft, Wright met Matthew in 2007 when he was married to Beyonce’s mom. The two began an affair resulting in Nixon being conceived in 2009.
In 2014, Wright became bankrupt and was forced to move into a mobile home with the young boy.
“[Beyoncé] is a billionaire and just bought the most expensive house in California, 10 miles from where we live,” said Wright of the $200 million home the singer purchased with husband Jay-Z.
The glaring discrepancy between the lifestyles of Nixon and his famous sister has had a profound impact on the young boy’s perception of himself and his place in the world.
“Nixon has never had the luxury of being a normal child,” Wright continued. “Being related to someone famous smothers kids like him, and they lose their identity.”
Adding, “I sit in the bathroom and cry sometimes because I just don’t know how to help him be his own person.”
Despite the current challenges, Wright holds onto hope for her son’s future and believes that he will eventually develop a bond with Beyoncé’s children
“But I believe our children and grandchildren will be much better human beings than we are. They have Snapchat and all that. I think they will find a way to open up and have that conversation,” she said.
