SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD KAMARI CHISOLM LAUNCHES 4TH ANNUAL ONLINE FINANCIAL LITERACY SUMMER CAMP

Following in the footsteps of Marsai Martin and many other young celebrities, sixteen-year-old Kamari Chisolm wants to help his generation build financial wealth and learn more about money. In order to help make his dream of helping others build a solid financial future, Kamari and his father, Kevon Chisolm, are launching their 4th annual online financial literacy summer camp.

“Our goal is to teach financial education to address the wealth gap by showing young people how to properly use money as a tool,” the elder Chisolm said in the pair’s recent interview with Black Enterprise

He continued, “In addition to topics like budgeting, banking, and investing in the stock market, our camp goes beyond others by exploring community wealth building through investment clubs.”

According to recent data from the Federal Reserve, only 34% of African American households owned any stocks and 24% of Latino households owned any stocks, in comparison to 61% of white households.

Both Kamari and his father Kevon believe that African Americans and Latinos can close the gap of this disparity by becoming financially literate at young ages.

Black-ish alum Marsai Martin herself back in 2021, expressed the importance of financial literacy and gaining a knowledge of money management.

She said in a previous interview, “As one of the most successful and entrepreneurial generations in history, it’s important for us to prioritize financial and literacy and educate young people on the tools and strategies they need to succeed.”

The talented entrepreneur also posted on Instagram at the time that, “… How many of y’all learned about money and finances through trial and error? In my opinion, There are not a lot of books or resources that breaks the information down into small enough bites that we can fully understand. Especially teens like me that our preparing for adulthood.”

And of course, she is a hundred percent correct and that is why Kamari and Kevon’s summer literacy program is so important. To find out more about the program, click here.
