Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga’s son, David Otunga Jr. (DOJ), is headed to high school! Jennifer couldn’t contain her pride and took to Instagram this past weekend to share the joyous news with her fans and followers.
“It’s official,” Jennifer exclaimed. “My baby is a high schooler now,” she told her fans. “We had such a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends,” Hudson said of DOJ’s graduation ceremony and the events that followed the occasion. “I am sooo proud of you DOJ,” Jennifer wrote to her son.
Many took to Instagram to congratulate DOJ on his graduation from middle school. “I was like, ‘How? He’s a baby.’ But Middle School, okay,” one supporter wrote online. “Congratulations,” the fan added. Another social media follower wrote, “Wait, that’s the baby?”
Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga Sr. welcomed their son on August 10, 2009. DOJ enjoyed a spectacular birthday party to commemorate his entry to the teen years last year.
“I officially have a teenager,” Jennifer told her social media fans last August. “Wow,” the celebrity mom continued. “Turn up my baby! I will forever celebrate you.”
Jennifer Hudson’s son is finding his way and groove in life. “I feel like I have a new child at 13,” the celebrity mom recently told PEOPLE. “He has his own swag now, his own plans and ideas, and it’s trusting my teachers,” Hudson shared.
“Because he’s older now, he’s more independent and it’s like, well this is what we want them to be. So [this portion of the journey is about] feeling confident enough to let him come into his own.”
DOJ will start his journey in high school this fall. “So happy to see him so happy,” one social media fan said after seeing pictures from DOJ’s post-graduation party. “That’s what it’s all about,” the supporter added.
“He’s gotten so tall and handsome,” wrote another fan who watched the same video clip. “Time flies and he’ll be a Senior before you know it,” the supporter added. “Enjoy every minute.”
