Major congratulations are in order for Lidya Jewett. The super talented 16-year-old has been tapped to star in the upcoming CBS comedy pilot, JumpStart.

According to Deadline, the multi-cam comedy is based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip by the same name. The project was penned by Wayne Conley (The Best Man) for the television adaptation, and will be directed by Phill Lewis.
So just what can fans expect from the upcoming project other than a lot of laughs? Well, the popular entertainment outlet gives ups the scoop.
Based on the popular comic strip that debuted in 1989, JumpStart is set in Philadelphia and follows Joe (Terry Crews), a cop, his wife Marcy (Ryan Michelle Bathé), a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy (Rob Cordrry). Joe and Marcy are young, hip, urban parents with old school values who are willing to sacrifice for their kids and have some laughs while doing it!
What role does Jewett portray in this new comedy, you ask? Well, the Nightbooks actress will star as 16-year-old daughter, Sunny Cobb, who is smart, witty, and just like her name, can light up a room.
The talented teen commented on her project saying, “new show, new parents 🥰🥰 super excited to be a part of this CBS comedy pilot based on the iconic comic strip, Jumpstart and I feel so honored to play Sunny. stay tuned!!”
JumpStart isn’t the only project that we will get from Jewett. The talented 16-year-old is also slated to star in the upcoming sequel to the 1973 film, The Exorcist.
“so so so so SOOOO excited to finally announce my part in this amazing sequel to the iconic classic film. I cannot wait for you all to see this phenomenal project made with phenomenal people,” Lidya posted on Instagram, earlier this year, announcing the news.
This Ethiopian-born beauty is unquestionably keeping busy, and of course, we cannot wait to see what all is next for her!
The Exorcist will hit theaters on October 13th. And although we don’t have a release date for JumpStart, don’t fret, we will definitely let you know when to tune-in!
