According to her official website, Skyla I’Lece is a multi-dimensional entertainer. She is a gifted singer, actress, dancer and songwriter. The 16-year-old is making her debut in her first series regular role in the Disney+ series, The Crossover as “Alexis,” the childhood friend of both the “Bell Brothers”. Recently, Skyla sat down for a quick Q&A with JustJaredJr.com, to talk about everything from where she got her start in the industry to what’s her favorite fruit. Skyla has been performing since she was very young. Her training started…guess where…in the theater!
My training started on stage in musical theatre. From ages 6-12, I engaged in 15 or more hours of training in acting, voice, and dance at North Carolina Theater Conservatory after school and on the weekends.
Skyla’s first professional acting job was in the Disney classic, The Little Mermaid in 2014, and then she went on to perform more amazing productions, being recognized for her talent with a “Best Actress in a Musical” nomination.
I’ve been cast in musical theatre productions of The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Annie, and The Secret Garden, where I was nominated as “Best Actress in a Musical” by Broadway World for my role as Mary Lennox. This is when I discovered I can not only memorize hundreds of pages of my own lines, but I knew the lines of everyone else in the cast! My singing voice also reached new heights during that production. Soon after, I was cast as Baby June in Gypsy, for which I was nominated by Broadway World as “Best Featured Actress in a Musical.”

Academics are just as serious for Skyla as acting.
I was raised to take academics very seriously. I am an honors student who takes multiple honors and AP courses. I study hard. I have an above 4.0 GPA in school.
Skyla’s favorite subject is…
My favorite subject is math. I’m currently taking AP Calculus and it’s challenging, yet invigorating. I’m even a math tutor at my school.
In addition to a being a scholar in school, Skyla is also an athlete.
I am a volleyball athlete. I’ve been in club volleyball for 4 years playing both MB and OH competitively.

Skyla already has her plans mapped out for after high school.
After high school, I plan to earn a university degree while simultaneously pursuing my acting and singing career.
Skyla’s aspirations after high school don’t only include pursuing acting and singing, she aspires to be in a very unique club…EGOT winners!
I aspire to earn an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) one day! I love performing for TV and on the stage. And when I get the opportunity to sing while portraying a role, I’m in heaven! On any given day, you can find me singing along to Broadway tunes whether it’s Hamilton or Six The Musical.
Skyla’s love of travel helped her to discover her favorite fruit.
I’ve traveled to Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai, British Virgin Island, England, France, and Belize. All of them were incredible experiences; however, if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be Thailand because that is where I discovered my favorite fruit: Rambutan, which, to me, tastes like a very sweet grape.
Last but not least, what does Skyla like to do for fun?
I love to cook and watch cooking shows. Some of my favorite dishes to prepare are deviled eggs, southern baked banana pudding, and eggs benedict.
