The group WanMor is quickly filling the void to become one, if not the, adored R&B boy bands of this generation. Big Boy, Chulo, Tyvas, and Rocco, son’s of of Wanyá Morris of Boyz II Men, are proving that they can and are making a name for themselves outside of that of their famous father. Recently, the quartet sat down for an exclusive interview with ratedrnb.com to talk about their new self-titled EP and how it all got started.

“Our mom, she was heavy on R&B, all sorts of music, actually,” Big Boy recalled during the interview. “We used to clean up all the time on Sunday, and in the morning, once you heard that R&B music playing on that speaker, you knew what time it was; time to get up and clean.”
His brother Chulo added, “So we learned a lot of songs from there, from Smokey Robinson, The Delfonics, Jackson 5, all of that.”
Learning the songs from the greatest R&B legends of all-time proved invaluable for the boys as it was their acapella covers of R&B classics that put them on the map. Early covers of songs included those by SWV, Shalamar, New Edition, DeBarge, among others. Four years ago, their rendition of the Jackson 5’s “All I Do is Think of You,” gained the group viral view numbers. At this point, stars were born.
And it wasn’t just “fans” that were taking note. Fast-forward to present-day. Songstress Mary J. Blige saw that these young men are indeed something special and she signed them to her label, Beautiful Life Productions, in partnership with 300 Entertainment.
“Wow, when we first got signed to Mary J. Blige, it became a Mary J. Blige listening party,” Big Boy said. “We were going crazy, playing all her hits, and now it’s just like she’s Auntie Mary. She’ll pop in and be like: “Are y’all doing what y’all supposed to do?” [We’re like:] “Yeah, we got you.””

The debut single from their self-titled EP under their new label was “Every Pretty Girl In The City.” The “Every Pretty Girl In The City’s,” official video gained more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.
The boys opened 2023 with a bang as they dropped new music, “Mine.”
According to Hype Magazine, “Mine” showcases the impressive interplay between the guys as they trade melodies over bouncy upbeat production. It builds towards a towering crescendo on the chorus with a lovestruck question, “Can you believe she’s mine?” The song unquestionably does what the boys do best…channeling throwback R&B tunes with a dose of 21st century attitude.
In February, their super 2023 continued, with WanMor attending the 65th Grammy Awards, participating in a tribute to Motown. The group joined Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and country singer Chris Stapleton onstage to perform a few hits by the two former legends.
As WanMor continues on their mission to prove that R&B is “not dead.” Chulo said that they are also just four brothers who like to, “play video games, basketball, watch football, and hang out with each other.” Additionally, they love to read, and watch movies.
