Happy Birthday to Mercy James! The daughter of Madonna celebrated her 17th birthday on Monday. For her special day, Madonna threw a mini birthday bash for her daughter and shared photos from the celebration on her Instagram Stories.
“H.B Mercy James,” the mom of six wrote alongside one photo of the teenager. “We love you!!”
“My precious beautiful talented daughter”, Madonna captioned on another picture of her and Mercy James.
Madonna recently said in an interview with Vanity Fair that raising her six kids has been “the hardest battle.”
“Today I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job,” the Material Girl shared during a cover shoot for Vanity Fair‘s “Icon Issue“. “Because, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art.”
The 64-year-old iconic entertainer continued, “No one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. It is exhausting because there is never rest.”
Madonna is mother of six: 26-year-old Lourdes with ex-boyfriend Carlos Leon; 22-year-old Rocco with ex-husband Guy Ritchie; 17-year-old David Banda from Malawi in 2006; 16-year-old Mercy James, whom she adopted from Malawi in 2009; and 10-year-old twins Estere and Stella, who she also adopted from Malawi in 2017.
Madonna is extremely proud of all of her children and doesn’t hesitate to let any and everyone know. She is happy to see all of them thrive in their own rights without any “professional” influence from the “Papa Don’t Preach” singer.
“I have never encouraged my daughter Lola to make music or my son Rocco to paint. But I’ve always exposed them to art, to music, and I’m happy that they’ve found ways to express themselves,” Madonna said in her interview. “I have respect and admiration for them and for what they do.”
The singer continued saying that much of her “happiness” comes from watching her children thrive while doing what they love.
“To witness their growth, to watch them evolve and then to find the things they love,” Madonna continued. “Most of my happiness comes from my children. And much more from the inspiration that some artists give me.”
Mark your calendars because on July 15, 2023, Madonna will kick-off a new tour, “The Celebration Tour,” celebrating four decades of entertaining fans worldwide. Madonna’s tour will last until Friday, December 1st and will unquestionably pass through either your city or a city near you!
