Keshia Knight-Pulliam and husband Brad James are expecting their first child together. The couple announced the news during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show.
When asked by Tamron Hall how he felt about the baby news, Brad responded, “It feels really good. Like she said before, this is my best friend. We do every level of life together. If you are a parent as we are, what you think about is who do i want raising my kids and this is the one,” he said pointing to Keshia.
Keshia’s journey to motherhood (for the second time) was met with some challenges along the way. The veteran actress shared with Hall that she underwent In vitro fertilization (IVF) but it was a “journey”.
Pulliam-Knight echoed the same sentiments earlier this year when she revealed that she was in the process of freezing her eggs when the COVID-19 pandemic and the March 2020 shutdown halted her egg retrieval plans.
“I began the process of freezing my eggs,” the actress revealed in documentary Eggs Over Easy: Black Women & Fertility “and then literally the day that I was supposed to start my meds is when, as a result of the pandemic, they shut down all elective medical procedures. So, I was unable to continue.”
“I think a lot of people didn’t realize that, with the world shutting down in the pandemic, it didn’t just affect your ability to go to the mall, or to do sporting events the way you want to, but it definitely affected a lot of people from a medical standpoint,” Pulliam continued. “People were unable to get mammograms and cancer surgery [which] were very much needed.”
“It’s crazy that preserving your right and your ability to have a baby is considered elective. It shouldn’t,” she says. “It should be an option that’s given to all women.”
Pulliam, 43, already shares 5-year-old daughter, Ella Grace, with her ex, Edgerton Hartwell. The couple are ecstatic about expanding their family and looking forward to baby James’ arrival in 2023.
