Isah Auwal-Barde is bringing us one step closer with his futuristic invention. The 17-year-old invents a humanoid that operations through exoskeleton remote control.
“It took me two years to invent the robot using local materials like DC motors, copper wires, pipes, corrugated cardboard as well as metal, among others, and the robot works with electricity. I want to be a robotics engineer so that I can be producing robots that can be used in addressing security challenges bedeviling the country,” the teenager said in a recent interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), per Nigerian Vanguard News.
Auwal-Barde gave credit to his father for supporting his project and pushing him towards success.
“Now, I want to get a scholarship to further my education abroad to fulfill my dream of becoming a robotics engineer,” he continued.
Auwal-Barde’s father told NAN according to Peoples Gazette that, “I have been giving him words of encouragement and telling him that he will become a robotics engineer in future. And whenever our electricity or electronics had faults, he was the one to repair them.”
Auwal-Barde’s robot, named, Mutum Mutumi is gaining the teenager a lot of well-deserved attention. According to news sources, his invention has attracted a visit from the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), a digital innovation and research facility focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Drones, Internet of Things (IoT), and other emerging technologies aimed at transforming the Nigerian digital economy.
The talented young inventor is a 2021 graduate of Government Secondary School (GSS), Sabuwar-Kofa, Kano. Auwal-Barde also holds seven credits in science subjects in the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
And of course the social media comments range from fire emoji’s to one comment that we can all agree upon…this kid needs to post his robot everywhere and tag Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos!
“You’re talented dear,” the Instagram user wrote. “Post your videos to @tiktok and @LinkedIn and tag Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and their likes. Nigerian government or investors will just [see] your dream.”
We cannot wait to see what the future holds for this amazing young man. We have a feeling that it is going to be phenomenal!
