Tyrese will pay his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, more than $10,000 per month in child support for their daughter, Soraya. A judge in Georgia made the order earlier this week.
According to TMZ,
“Tyrese’s courtroom showdown with his estranged wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, wrapped up Tuesday evening in Georgia with the judge ordering the actor to pay $10,690/month in child support.”
Tyrese appeared disgruntled by the ruling and, at one point, attempted to question Samantha’s lawyer who brought up his earnings of $2 million in 2018, which was a year in which Tyrese allegedly claimed to have been in financial ruins. The entertainer attempted to pose a question for his ex-wife’s lawyer when the judge interjected by shouting, “You don’t ask questions! That’s not how this works!” The judge also threatened to hold Tyrese in contempt if he continued to be combative towards Samantha’s lawyer.
Samantha wed Tyrese in 2017. The two welcomed their daughter in 2018 and separated two years later. Samantha filed to receive child support from her former spouse in 2020. She spoke out about her decision to divorce her husband last year.
“When relationships end or friendships end, I can walk away knowing I can drop the mic. I did everything I could do,” Samantha shared with the press. “At that point, I feel like when I do that and I know that God has tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Okay, Sam,’ it’s like, you know what? I did everything I could do. At this point, all I can do is trust God,” she said.
“All I can do is either trust God to either do whatever, whether to give me peace and proceed with my peace or continue to stay in this cycle with whatever person I’m dealing with at the time, whether it be a friendship or a relationship.”
The judge in Tyrese and Samantha’s case advised the entertainer to view the $10,000 per month in child support as an investment this past Tuesday (Aug. 30). Tyrese, however, was a single father to his oldest daughter, Shayla Gibson, for years before his first wife, Norma Mitchell, was awarded joint custody in 2017. He also pays upwards of $10,000 per month in child support for his oldest daughter.
