“One day you’re going to see this diagnosis as a blessing.” Those are the words that a stranger left Holly Robinson Peete to consider when the actress’ son was diagnosed with autism ten years ago. Holly delved into her response to the statement during a recent interview with Tamron Hall.
“I was like, ‘Please, lady, don’t talk to me,'” Holly said of her initial response to the woman who invited the actress to view the situation from a different perspective. “But then, later on, when I realized the people that we’ve been able to impact, and the conversations we’ve been able to have with people, and the families who feel some kind of way about being able to embrace [autism] because they’ve seen RJ, or because they have hope because they were told their kid would never do anything. And then all of a sudden I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s what she meant.'”
