Tami Roman gave her husband, Reggie Youngblood, permission to have a baby with another woman. The television personality explained the motivation behind her decision during a recent talk with Garcelle Beauvais and Adrienne Houghton on The Real.
“It’s on pause,” Tami, who has two adult daughters, said when responding to questions about her and Reggie’s surrogacy journey. Roman and her husband previously entertained the notion of having a child by way of a surrogate. The television personality, however, told The Real co-hosts that such a means of family expansion is no longer on the table.
“I feel like I’m at a point where my career is starting to do and reward me for all of my efforts and the time that I’ve been in this business,” Tami Roman shared. “And a baby for me right now would just not be the thing to do,” she added. “So what I offered [my husband] was an opportunity for us to take a break for a year or two and let him go find someone to have a child with and then when he has his baby, we can get back together.”

Both Garcelle Beauvais and Adrienne Houghton had questions for Tami after hearing such an irregular proposition. One central inquiry was whether or not Tami would help her husband rear the child.
“I would help raise the baby. It’s just [that] I don’t want to have it,” the celebrity shared. “I don’t want to go get my eggs and all that,” Roman added. “It’s really more about him being able to have his legacy here because he’s an only child and he does not have any children. So it’s really more for him than it is for me.”

Of course, Tami Roman would also encourage Reggie Youngblood to work with the mother of the child to create a healthy co-parenting relationship. “I believe in co-parenting,” Tami shared with the co-hosts of The Real. “I think that’s a very valuable part of a child’s life,” the television personality continued. “If the parents aren’t together, [then] you need to learn how to co-parent. And then I can be there and love the child as if it was my own.”
So what was Reggie Youngblood’s response? “He said, ‘I don’t want that. I fell in love with you. You’re the woman that I’m going to spend the rest of my life with. If God put me here, and I’m not supposed to have children, then that’s what it is.'”
