Are you looking for something scary with a touch of nostalgia this Halloween season? The Disney Channel’s Under Wraps may be the film you want to see with the family.
Marshall (Malachi Barton), Gilbert (Christian J. Simon), and Amy (Sophia Hammons) accidentally revive a mummy days before Halloween. Initially petrified of the notion of bringing to life a 4,000-year-old corpse, the friends soon discover that Harold (Phil Wright) is lovable and quite fun.
“It’s a lot going on in the movie,” Christian Simon tells BCK. “This is my first ever movie,” the young star says. “I feel like I haven’t done something so action-packed,” Simon adds. “We’re running all over the place, trying to fight these bad guys.”
Malachi Barton agrees and adds that his role as Marshall resonated with him on a personal level. “It was more me,” the young actor shares. “I really felt like I was able to be myself for this character because of his love for monsters and just anything scary,” Barton continues. “Personally, I love anything [that includes] horror, Sci-Fi, anything like that.”
The cast agrees that director Alex Zamm did a fantastic job of finding the right talent for the ideal roles. “I look at casting as 95 percent of the job,” Zamm tells BCK. “When you get that right, so many things fall into place,” the director explains.

“I wanted to honor the first film and build on it in certain ways. I wanted Harold to come across as a lovable, fun, curious character,” Zamm says when asked about his mission when orchestrating the latest version of Under Wraps, which pays homage to the original 1997 film. “I wanted people to look at a mummy as a scary thing, at first, and then to find out that he was anything but that and that he was a loyal, comedic, and wonderful friend.”
Harold is indeed a wonderful friend in the film. He is also quite the dancer and non-verbal communicator. “This role was very specific because, obviously, we know that Harold does not have any dialogue in the story,” Phil Wright shares of his character. “So, for me, we had to develop a language that Harold had, which was grunting.”
You can catch Harold, Marshall, Gilbert, and Amy in their many Halloween adventures when Under Wraps comes to Disney Channel and the Disney+ platform on Friday, October 1, 2021.
