Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s daughter, Riley, celebrated her ninth birthday and fans cannot believe it! Social media supporters were taken by surprise at the news of the Currys’ oldest child’s growth.
“And just like that our firstborn is 9,” Ayesha told her social media fans earlier this week. “Our fierce, emotional, smart, and talented Riley roo,” the celebrity mom doted. “I have no words because I really can’t believe we’re already here,” Ayesha added. “So proud of this girl.”
Several of Ayesha’s Instagram followers had to pause for the cause of recognizing Riley’s birthday. “I can’t handle it, Ayesha. How is she NINE,” cookbook author Amanda Haas asked in response to Ayesha’s birthday tribute to her daughter. “It feels like yesterday that she was stealing the show in her dad’s arms during the postgame interviews,” Haas added.
Some may remember when Riley Curry made her debut in the middle of her father’s press conference. Little Riley, who was a toddler at the time, climb underneath tables and also interrupted her father on the microphone a few times before the press conference ended. Some scrutinized Stephen Curry for bringing his daughter to the conference. The celebrity father, however, made no apologies for his daughter’s big personality.
It was just last year that Ayesha and Stephen Curry brought Riley along for a social justice protest. “She totally got it, she internalized it, and then was able to ask us the questions that she wanted to ask without being fearful of asking them,” Ayesha said of her daughter’s response to the experience.
“I feel like that’s been how we see change happening—because the children are our future, and I feel like if we’re verbally and physically instilling in them the change we wish to see, that’s the best way to get it going,” Mrs. Curry added. “So not really sugarcoating no matter how young the kids are—not sugarcoating what’s going on, really tackling it head-on, face-first—has been what’s worked for us.”
Riley is the oldest of three children Ayesha and Stephen Curry have together. Riley commemorated her ninth birthday on Monday, July 19, 2021.
