Mickey Guyton will not tolerate adults attacking her son. The country music singer took to Instagram on Thursday (July 1) to expose a user who sent a racist private message about her family.
Mickey is not afraid to share her experience in the country music industry that includes racism and discrimination. It was just a few months ago that the ‘Black Like Me’ singer addressed her feelings about white supremacy in the United States as it related to her husband and then-unborn child.
“I’ve seen racial injustice happen to my husband,” Mickey told PEOPLE exclusively. “I’ve had a ‘Karen’ falsely make claims against him and say some of the most heinous things, like the N-word,” the recording artist added. “I’m growing this Black child in my belly that is going to have to face this,” Guyton shared with the media source. “I pray for him.”
Mickey and her husband, Grant Savoy, welcomed their son in February. “The hardest and most beautiful thing I have ever done,” Guyton said of her labor and delivery experience. “Welcome to the world Grayson,” the celebrity mom wrote to her son.
Mickey has shared several pictures of her son with Instagram fans. One user by the name of crystal502021 recently responded to the country singer’s willingness to share snippets of her life with a nasty message.
“You have the ugliest child I’ve ever seen,” crystal502021 wrote to Guyton. “You should take it and go back to the projects,” the social media troll continued. “Nashville doesn’t need trash like you.”
Mickey Guyton did not take the message lightly. She instead shared it with her Instagram followers. “This deserves front and center attention,” Mickey told her social media fans. “crystal502021 came for my child,” the recording artist added. “Shame on you,” Guyton wrote to the troll.
Guyton received an abundance of support from fellow country singers who also called out the critic. “So despicable,” Chris Stapleton’s wife, Morgane Stapleton, said. “Furious,” JoJo shared. “I know I’m one of MANY including @keisharenee who are REPORTING THIS ACCOUNT.”
Mickey Guyton and Grant Savoy celebrate four years of marriage this year.
