Cardi B has been inspired by her daughter to get into the doll business stating that, “I’m a girl mom.”
The rapper commented on Instagram, “BARDI GANG!! I’m dropping my own doll TODAY! Inspired by me. Created by me. Designed by me. Thank you @officialrealwomenare This means sooo much. Visit the website now to reserve your doll. You only have 72 hours – so go! Don’t miss out! GET IT HERE – www.realwomenare.com.”
So, why did the multi-platinum recording artist decide to team up with Real Women Are, a groundbreaking doll brand that is inspired by influential women of color created for girls?
“As everyone knows, I’m a mom. And today, more than ever, it’s important to me to give my daughter inspiration and badass women to look up to,” said Cardi B in an official press release. “Working with Real Women Are is a chance for me to provide my daughter and other little girls something that looks like them to play with to inspire them. We’re in the White House now, but we’re still so far behind in other places. Representation matters.”
Cardi B. continued, “What makes Real Women Are special is that young girls of color are a priority to the doll brand. We want them to know that they are special. That they are worthy of having a toy that looks like them. We’re not building Real Women Are as an afterthought or something just to check off a box. Creating a doll that is a mirror of our daughters, nieces and granddaughters is at our very core.”
The doll is just as fashion-forward as Cardi B and Kulture Kiari. The doll’s ensemble includes top-of-the-line contemporary designs, hair, and make-up. Accessories and additional wardrobe are sold separately.
The Cardi B Real Women Are doll was slated for a limited edition release on March 5. Fans and doll collectors were able to get on an exclusive waitlist as orders were only accepted for 72 hours. Those who reserved a doll, are guaranteed a purchase in July. The retail price for the new collectors item is $35.00. If you missed the 72 hour window, make sure to visit the Real Women Are website or follow them on Instagram to stay up-to-date as to when more dolls will be available.
Cardi B recently visited the Today show to promote the launch of her doll. While talking to the Today crew, she revealed the best parenting lesson that she has learned to date.
“The biggest lesson I learned is don’t take advice from no other mothers, especially the ones on social media, the robot moms, the ones that tell you your kid’s supposed to be off Pampers at 1 years old and then on binkies on 1 years old,” she said. “Every kid is different, every kid develop different, and not everybody else’s child is like my child.”
What do you think of Cardi B’s new venture? Will you try to add one to your kid’s collection? Sound-off, let us know what you think. We want to hear from you!
