Twenty-Twenty was unquestionably a year filled with much uncertainty; however, there was one thing that remained constant-the top most popular girl and boy baby names. Sophia and Liam held their spots at the top of the BabyCenter annual list.
According to BabyCenter, the name Sophia has held the top spot for the 11th year in a row while Liam held on to the number one spot for the second year in a row.
Baby names are usually a reflection of what is going on in society at the time. The changes in the list reflect a year of political divisiveness and loss. Upon the death of Kobe Bryant, the name Kobe shot up the list 175%, and his daughter’s name Gianna, also made a 216% climb. The name Kamala climbed the list, reflecting 104% positive rise and the name Liberty rose 12% in popularity. Additionally, the names Karen and Chad both declined 13% and 12% respectively.
