Mel B wants Eddie Murphy to pay an increase of $25,000 per month in child support for their daughter, Angel Murphy. Court documents reveal why Mel is asking for more financial support from her daughter’s father.
“Eddie and Melanie have both established careers in the entertainment industry,” the Spice Girls singer’s lawyer shared in a statement to the court. “Melanie is a singer, songwriter, and television personality,” the document read. “Eddie is a legendary comedian and actor,” Mel’s lawyer continued.
“Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel,” the court documents continued. “Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time.”
Mel B has managed to earn a net worth well over $40 million from her career as a singer and overall television personality. The entertainer was recently replaced by another judge, Alesha Dixon, on America’s Got Talent: The Champions. According to reports, Mel decided to “swap the Hollywood lifestyle” for a quieter setting in her hometown of Leeds in Northern England.
Angel is Mel B and Eddie Murphy’s only child together. Eddie currently gives Mel $25,000 per month in child support while supporting a total of nine children, aged 22 months to 31-years-old. Eddie Murphy also has a granddaughter with his ex-wife Nicole Murphy.
A judge has yet to hear Mel B’s request for an increase in child support. Stay tuned for more Eddie Murphy family news!
