LL Cool J is going to be a grandpa again! The all-around entertainer’s daughter, Italia Smith-Cardinez, is pregnant with her second child.
LL’s wife, Simone Smith, was one of several family members to congratulate Italia on her family’s expansion. “Ma’s girl is having a baby girl,” the celebrity grandmother exclaimed in reference to the gender of her unborn grandchild. “She’s the only one that calls me Ma,” Simone said of Italia. “My other babies call me mommy and my grandson King-James calls me Mo-Ma.”
Italia and her husband, Lamar Cardinez, welcomed a son in 2018. LL Cool J talked about his life as a father and new grandfather during his interview on Strahan, Sara, and Keke.
“The big key is that inner confidence,” LL said of his parenting principles. “You’ve got to approach everything with humility but, at the same time, you’ve got to be confident that you can get it done,” the celebrity said. “And then focus on the skill set that’s going to enable you to accomplish what it is you’re trying to accomplish. Thar’s what I try to instill in [my kids].”
LL Cool J went on to tell the show’s hosts, “As far as the baby, they call me grand-man. The grand-man.”
